Geotekstil adalah material lembaran yang dibuat dari bahan tekstil polymeric, bersifat lolos air, yang dapat berbentuk bahan nir-anyaman (non woven), rajutan atau anyaman (woven) yang digunakan dalam kontak dengan tanah/batu dan/atau material geoteknik yang lain di dalam aplikasi teknik sipil. Geotekstil umumnya dibuat dari polymer polypropylene (beberapa dibuat dari polyester atau polyethylene), yang dibuat dalam bentuk fiber atau benang, dan akhirnya dipakai untuk membuat lembaran kain anyamanan atau nir-anyaman (non woven).
